From the Artist: "Since a very young age I have had a deep desire to connect with people. Painting has been a way to bridge the raw energies of the subconscious and a way to communicate to the world. I use acrylic to paint familiar objects that appear other worldly and mysterious. The language of painting is fascinating to me and like dreams it's hard to articulate. For me art provides an alternate way of viewing the world on its own terms. Painting fulfills my desire to be absolutely hands-on in the act of creation. For me, painting has essentially become a meditative practice. Now as a painter, every stroke I make I become absorbed in the moment. I believe my work reflects that for which I strive: seeing the universal connection to all things--beauty, clarity and simplicity in life." Thanks to the artist, Marcie Erspamer, and to Marie Argento-McCurdy for writing to her! 24" x 24" acrylic.

Native American cultures and the forces of nature inspire these three archival quality framed pieces. With nine images each, they are printed in oil base ink, on Arches Cover, 100% cotton rag paper, and created by an intaglio printmaking technique known as drypoint. The ink is printed from copper plates, drawn into directly by the children, with etching needles. Thank you to Ms. Luscher and her students, Grey Byrd and Doug Davidovich, and all the parents that contributed to this project.

The third graders in Mr. Clarkson's class drew inspiration from abstract expressionism to create this year's auction project: three sets of 15"X15" fused glass platters with eight 4.5" X 4.5" matching bowls, each set done in the style of Piet Mondrain, Jackson Pollack, and Vasily Kandinsky. Students studied these artists and their techniques in class and then used what they learned to create one-of-a-kind glass pieces that are both fun and functional. Thanks to all the students for their meticulous work gluing, aligning, splattering, and pouring (yes, you can do all that with glass!), Mr. Clarkson for his inspiration, all the parent volunteers who helped, and Terry Welter of Cline Glass for materials and creative support.
